Thankful for the Colors of Fall
62Colors of fall used in this fall flower arrangement.
Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower. ~Albert Camus
Fall brings rich hues plucked from the earth—red, brown, orange, yellow, amber, ochre and all the colors in between. It’s quite nature’s way of easing us into the cold of winter—like a martini before the main course or the preview to the main show. A teaser of sorts and we—the willingly partakers of nature’s show.
Of the many things I’m thankful for this fall season—colors play a main part. Rich hues sneak in on fruits, vegetables, the trees lining the street or the lake and the offerings of fall flowers. The festive colors inspire and warm our hearts, so here are some thoughts on the colors of fall.
All the pictures are mine except the last two. They belong to Movie Master, a wonderful hubber who excels in photography, humor and all things beautiful.
Autumn burned brightly, a running flame through the mountains, a torch flung to the trees.~ Faith Baldwin
A fiery torch of red
The glow of autumn’s pride
The hues of red rises
A lift,
A touch,
A stirring in the heart.
Autum, the year's last, loveliest smile ~ William Cullen
A golden mob of hair
Rises above
The spikes
The bore of green and the mundane
No more when crowned
With the cream of flair.
Everyone must take time to sit and watch the leaves turn. ~ Elizabeth Lawrence
Whimsical and red
Leaves that glow in the sun
And whisper in the air
The burst of color
Like a joyous choir
Enough to set
The heart
On fire.
Swinging on delicate hinges the autumn leaf almost off the stem.~Jack Kerouac
Shades of autumn sit well
On leaves embolden
To rage against the cold
That sneaks in so seamlessly
Leaving summer’s bliss
In its trail
So
There’s no turning back.
So, what are we waiting for? Revel in the season of autumnal colors and let the dancing begins.
More Autumn quotes to ponder:
I sit quietly, listening to the falling leaves - A lonely hut, a life of renunciation. The past has faded, things are no longer remembered, My sleeve is wet with tears.~Ryokan
You like it under the trees in autumn, because everything is half dead. The wind moves like a cripple among the leaves and repeats words without menaing. ~Wallace Stevens
Autumn wins you best by this its mute appeal to sympathy for its decay.~Robert Browning
October gave a party; The leaves by hundreds came - The Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples, And leaves of every name. The Sunshine spread a carpet, And everything was grand, Miss Weather led the dancing, Professor Wind the band. ~ George Cooper

Beautiful colors and pictures...refreshing indeed!
I, too, loved the Cooper quote. It would be hard to describe autumn better. I've been out taking pictures for a new photo essay today with a slightly different theme. But I won't be writing a lovely poem to go with my pictures as you did. Voted up, beautiful, and awesome.
Hello, my dear flower whisperer. Your Thanksgiving floral arrangement is super cute. I wish we lived closer to each other so I could bug you to make me a wedding bouquet! haha :)

THE BEAUTY OF GOD’S LOVE By BERNARD LEVINE
God is amazing
He chooses every baby's DNA and blood type
He puts every star in place to float in the sky
He creates every fingerprint with a rare design
He makes an egg to burst open with life.
God is great
He selects all the love-songs for every bird to sing
He makes broken bones mend
He gives every flower its specific perfume
He cares for seeds and they turn to fruit.
God is awesome
He tells the seasons when to change
He gives us air so we can breathe
He feeds multitudes of living organisms on our planet
He waters fields of green carpets with morning dew.
Every leaf is a marvel of God's genius
Every baby is filled with God's love
There is nothing in this world more precious
than the beautiful kindness of God.
